The ANU, through the Library, participated in a consortia (Council of Australasian University Librarians) negotiated agreement in 2022-2025. CAUL and Elsevier were unable to reach a negotiated agreement for 2026. In considering the Australian National University’s requirements, the financial elements of the proposed agreement and in seeking the best value for money and the need for long-term sustainable subscription agreements, the ANU Library will not be entering into a stand-alone agreement directly with Elsevier for the ScienceDirect Journals package. The Library may consider a future CAUL negotiated agreement with Elsevier for ScienceDirect based on significant improvements to the offer that provides increased value to our University.
